Knox County is one of the few rural counties to be able to boast having seven school districts amoung nine communities. Each has history of preparing students to be able to compete at all academic levels. In fact, Creighton Elementary and Secondary schools received the prestigious National Blue Ribbon Award in keeping with the principles of the No Child Left Behind Act in 2003 and 2004.

Since Center is located in the center of the county, residents have the opportunity to attend school in Bloomfield, Creighton or Verdigre all of which are located from 10 to 14 miles from Center.

Center is also located near several colleges and universities including Wayne State College and Northeast Community College in Northeast Nebraska; Briar Cliff College and Morningside College in Iowa; and the University of South Dakota and Mount Mary College in South Dakota.
